Time stamps on read iMessages

I noticed that when a person’s read receipts are turned on, it usually has a time stamp showing the exact time they’ve read my messages; however, someone I was talking to read my message but there was no time stamp on it, this is the first time I’ve noticed an iMessage being read but not showing the time stamp of when it was read. Anyone have any idea why?

This answer doesn’t help because I am not seeing the time stamp that someone read a message I sent them. I can see that they read it, but I can’t see the time. I’m just wondering why it’s not showing me the time?

Hello terah176,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand a recipient is unable to view the time stamp for read receipts in iMessage. We'll be happy to help

We recommend to temporarily turn off, "Send Read Receipts" for the specific contact in which the time stamp is not appearing. Then, let's restart the device and turn the feature back on for, "Send Read Receipts."

To perform this step, please go to the conversation thread of the contact. Tap the contact's profile picture at the top of the thread > Send Read Receipts.

Once these steps are performed, please test and see if this behavior continues to occur.

Kind regards.

terah176,

Thanks for getting back to us and for verifying that information. We noticed from your post that you're on iOS 14. Let's go ahead and update the software on your iPhone to iOS 15.1. This helps provide software improvements on your device that may help. Once your iPhone is updated to the latest version, let's see if you're able to view the time stamp for read receipts in iMessage.

If needed here's how to update the software on your iPhone: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Best regards.
