iPhone 13 storrage info is frozen

Hi,

I have encountered strange iOS behavior. All application sizes are outdated, seems like they don't recalculate the cache size.

A few examples:

  • Telegram app, the storage information in the settings shows 77 MB of cache files. But the telegram application says that it has ~200 MB of cache, if I delete these files in Telegram - there is still 77 MB left in the settings, if I increase the Telegram cache - still 77 in settings.
  • Camera and Photos apps, I filmed a short ProRes video about 2 GB, but iOS in the settings app says that the Photos app is only 900 MB (btw, without optimizing iCloud photos).
  • Call of Duty Mobile, it downloads more than 10gb of cache files, but this information is missing in the settings.

I've alredy tried to wipe my phone, but no luck. What it can be ?

I'm using iPhone 13 Pro Max. iOS 15.1.1

Thanks in advance.

Hi there Dmitriy_S,

We understand you have a question regarding the storage on your iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Get started with this resource: How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Specifically, you may not see the app storage amount change due to cached files, as they may be classified as Other:

"Content categories

The used content on your device is divided in these categories:

  • Apps: Installed apps and their content, and content stored in "On My iPhone/iPad/iPod touch" directory in the Files app, and Safari downloads
  • Photos: Photos and videos stored in the Photos app
  • Media: Music, videos, podcasts, ringtones, artwork, and Voice Memos
  • Mail: Emails and their attachments
  • Apple Books: Books and PDFs in the Books app
  • Messages: Messages and their attachments
  • iCloud Drive: iCloud Drive content that has been downloaded locally to your device. This content can't be automatically deleted.
  • Other: Non-removable mobile assets, like Siri voices, fonts, dictionaries, non-removable logs and caches, Spotlight index, and system data, such as Keychain and CloudKit Database. Cached files can't be deleted by the system.
  • System: Space taken by the operating system. This can vary based on your device and model."

If you're not seeing any additional storage on the device after recording a video, restart your iPhone, and check again.

Regards.
