Smart WiFi Plugs and HomeKit Turn Off?

I have just setup three Smart WiFi Plug Mini devices and tested them all so that they work using the Home app. What I am unclear about is the ability to trigger the outlet to turn off.

If the outlet(s) are turned on using automation, and you have another automation at a later time for the same devices (or scene) , then do they toggle to off?

The app implies that automation events only turn devices on because it includes an option to turn it off up to 4 hours later, or never.

An explanation will be much appreciated. I am trying to schedule a 24 hour cycle for my Christmas lights to turn on/off at two different periods each day (morning and night).

BTW - they need to add a HomeKit topic to choose from!
