apple watch will not show all apps mode

Apple watch series 4 suddenly has very short battery life (< 90minutes). Will not respond to digital crown to show all apps. Side button will show apps, but will not show grid view, and will reset if I try to exit from the power off / SOS screen. I have unpaired / re-paired twice to try to reset, and phone and watch are both on latest OS. Started happening about a week ago. Watch is basically unusable. Any thoughts of other things to try?

Based on the troubleshooting you've done, it would be advisable to schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar for evaluation and options.
