Macbook Pro will not detect Apple Cinema Display

I have an Apple Cinema Display that I had connected to my personal laptop (Macbook Pro). I now have a temporary work laptop, a newer Macbook Pro

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)

Running Catalina 10.15.7 (19H1519)

I cannot get it to detect the Apple Display.

I have two adapters connected to it.

  • Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter.
  • USBc to USB Adapter

Both recommended by Apple.

At first I only had the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter connected, recommended by Apple staff. They insisted that's all I needed. It didn't work.

Then I added the USBc to USB Adapter and that made the SOUND come through the Apple external display, and not the Macbook. Closer, but still no video.

I have restarted several times, tried to force it to detect the display and it is still not working.

Has anyone made this work?

Thanks!

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.14

Why my Reply?:

I don’t have a 27-Inch Apple Cinema Display to test this with. But who knows? It might work. So, if you do decide to go through with the adapter, spread the word on how it ends up working out. I’m eager to know if it works with a 27-Inch Apple Cinema Display is all.
