Every time I try to sign into a website “scan” text” comes up and I need to disable but don’t know how to do that.

I rang Apple and I updated to the latest version and turned it off and on again, but still the same problem with the ‘scan text ‘ and no keyboard coming up. The Apple tech said there was a fix in the newest update, but, NO. This clearly needs an Apple fix. It happens more often when I click into a website directly from my email but happened when I tried to log into my bank today… very very very annoying and frustrating. I am having to use my sons Android tablet to access my bank. Not good… please sort this Apple…

I’m having exactly the same problem, ever since I did the last update. The keyboard won’t come up, just the scan text. So I can’t put my password in to websites or make purchases. It so frustrating, does anyone know how to disable this function. Thanks

Similar issue here.

I can no longer use cut/copy & paste. When I try it just pops up a scan text box which then activates the camera? This happens in all apps, even browsers. Searched the settings, searched the help, searched online, but found nothing helpful. I restarted my iPad, didn’t fix it, I reset my iPad, didn’t fix it.

Running v15.1 on iPad Air 3.

This issue has been resolved for me. I contacted apple support who were very helpful. The support agent connected to my iPad and we cut and pasted some random text into Notes. Low and behold a paste option appeared! Then I tried a specific app I was experiencing this issue with, plus the browsers, and they all work now. Can’t say if the simple cut and paste process was how it was fixed. The support agent said he did not do anything to fix it. It was definitely not working prior to contacting support. Anyway, it’s all back to normal now but I am in the process of upgrading to iPad OS 15.2. Hopefully I will not get any other issues :-)

Okay, I have this figured out:

Go to "Camera" and toggle off "Show Detected Text"

Now go to "Language & Region" and toggle off "Live Text"

To paste copied text, tap the text field to bring up keyboard and tap again to pop up the "Paste" bubble. Don't tap & hold to bring up the "Paste bubble, just tap and release. The "Paste" bubble should pop up.

What some other folks are posting does work, however you have to then restart your computer for it to take.

Go to Settings > General > Language & Region. Then turn off the toggle button next to “Live Text“. — then restart. Just to be sure go back into the same thread in settings to make sure it still shows the tuggle button off for a live text.

I can’t access the keyboard to login on some apps. The scanning camera popped up when this happened the first time. I disabled live camera scanning but the keyboard is still missing when I try to login. This happens randomly, the keyboard is there sometimes but nit always. My login access is crucial, I travel for academic work and am required to maintain online access to essential apps / software..

Had this problem for months on my iPad just got help from apple support and my problem is resolved.

had to good into settings under general then language and region and turn off live chat but then you have to reboot system for it to work. If you don’t reboot then the scan text is gone but then you loss text as well but reboot and scan text gone and keyboard is back.
