Liquid Retina XDR Display Calibration

It appears it is no longer possible to use a Datacolor Spyder to calibrate the display of a MacBook Pro with the introduction of the Liquid Retina XDR on the latest M1 chip set models. A Support Bulletin, https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212851 indicates that only a high-end spectroradiometer can be used. Such equipment is orders of magnitude more costly and complex to use.

This likely will pose problems for photographers and other content creators who rely on readily available ad easy to use tools like the Sypder to calibrate across devices, printers, displays, cameras, etc. If indeed this is the case, it is disappointing and a step backward for the MacBook Pro.

I purchased my Datacolor Sypder Pro a few months ago and it worked at first, now it appears it does not. I would appreciate if you could share how we can disable whatever video card lock you've installed as professionals, using professional computers like to be in control of their color space and there's no reason why we should be blocked out. I agree, this is disappointing and simply a bad business move...you can't just assume your factory color settings are best and just to not worry about it.
