Support.apple.com/phone/restore ... Why?

My phone’s been working fine all day every day. Now it’s showing that I need to restore it (iOS) and/or plug it into another Apple device, which I do not have, other than my iPad. Am I now unable to use my phone at all? I need help, because this is very inconvenient for work.

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 15
