Can Monterey Connect to PC running Windows Server 2003?

Hi

We have a brand new iMac just out the box running Monterey 12.0.1

I would like to connect to a PC running Windows Server 2003 (ancient, they have hot folders to drop files into print queues)

Trying to connect via Go – Connect to Server – smb://192.168.2.50

It just times out. I have no success pinging this address with Terminal

All is well with the network, I can achieve connection with a 2017 iMac running High Sierra

I fear it's a compatibility issue due to the age of Windows Server and wonder if any expert out there can shed some light.

Thanks

This says you also have to include the share name:

Network address formats and protocols on Mac - Apple Support

SMB/CIFS (Windows) servers and shared folders

Use one of these formats:

smb://DNSname/sharename

smb://IPaddress/sharename

You can also use the computer name. If you don’t specify the shared folder as part of the address, you can choose it after you enter your user name and password.

This says Monterey still support SMB
