Hello, kayfromteaneck.

It is not possible to move the Word application from your husband's Dell PC to your Mac. Applications are not interchangeable between the Windows environment and the macOS.

You can, however, purchase a subscription to a version of the MS Word application that will run on your Mac computer IF your Mac is new enough to qualify for the currently available version of Word. If you can install a Mac version of Word, then you can seamlessly share Word documents with your husband's computer.

You can find your Mac's info by clicking the  (Apple) menu at the top of your screen and then select About This Mac.

There you'll find the version of macOS that it is running and the year and model of the computer. With that info in hand you can discover if your Mac can run currently available versions of the MS apps.

An alternate solution might be to install the Apple Pages application on your Mac if you don't already have it. It can be downloaded from the App Store. Pages can open and edit documents created in MS Word on PCs. Or have a look at the free LibreOffice application. It can handle Word documents also.

Word the application? Or a Word document file?

A Word document file can be emailed, or copied over on a USB drive etc...

Word the application cannot be moved from a Windows computer to a Mac. They are different platforms and as such applications are built differently and not interchangeable.

If you have the Office 365 subscription, you can download Word from the Mac App store and log in with the Microsoft account that holds that subscription.

Otherwise, you will need to purchase a Mac specific version of Office to use on the Mac or subscribe to Office 365.

Other options include using Word online, a free office suite like Libre Office, or even Apple's own Pages application to open Word documents.
