Change Apple ID PW and this happened

Changed my Apple ID PW, after I received notice that it was being used in a city, and state i've not been in. after changing PW got series of messages that my Apple ID was being used on 'new' iphone, ipad. Should I have expected to see those notifications as the result of changing Apple ID PW?

From what I have read and experienced, the messages are normal.
