Why is the apple tv website so unwieldy?

Why can't you search for shows? I have to search on google to direct me back to apple tv. Why doesn't it keep track of which shows I am watching? In essence, why is it the website so user unfriendly? They need to take a page from Hulu and Netflix.

Ok, maybe this was more of a rant than a question. Not an apple fan.
