Cooling down through one vent

Hi everyone,

Almost every time I use my MacBook it sounds like it is taking off. And every time I use it, it only uses the right side to cool down I feel like (since that is the only side that makes noise). Is that right? Because I feel like both sides should be working and that the other one is either broken or jammed and that I should maybe go by the apple store to fix it. What do you guys think?

MacBook Pro 13-in has only one fan on one side. If yours is a 13-in model, the other fan is not spinning because it is not there.

These Macs generally do not need much fan cooling unless you are doing graphics-intensive work like editing videos.

Hello cijs,

From your post it sounds like you are experiencing some loud fan noise when starting up you MacBook.

We would recommend that you start with a System Management Control reset. The SMC is responsible for managing behaviors related to multiple systems, including the trackpad. Instructions to reset are available here:  How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support
