Well this rules out GPU on the logic board—but does implicate the Display Assembly issue.
In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment

Try to run Apple Diagnostics if it reports display or graphic processor error(VFD001 to VFD007).
