Strange "?" available airdrop persona pops up same time as my iPhone when trying to airdrop from MacBook

I have a strange "?" available airdrop person option that pops up same time as my iPhone when trying to airdrop from MacBook. It clearly appears to be tied to my iPhone as it's only there when my iPhone is open. But if I change my airdrop options from my iPhone to contacts only my iPhone disappears but "?" stays. See attached image. What does this mean?

Yes, I am the only one in my household that uses apple. As I mentioned when my iPhone is locked they both disappear. If it was someone else, that "?" would still show available.
