LG Ultrafine Brightness Dimmed when wake from sleep

i have the LG 27" UltraFine 5K IPS Monitor (model # 2md5kl-b) connected via Thunderbolt 3 to a new Macbook Pro 16" M1 Max (Monterey). this provides power to the Mac & the display is not in mirror mode (i use both the Macbook's display next to the LG display).

when i wake the display/Mac up from sleep (by touching the keyboard), the LG's brightness is always dimmed. i have them set in prefs to be max always.

i had this same display connected to a 2017 Macbook Pro (Big Sur) in this same config for a year and did not have this dimming problem. it only started happening with this new Macbook.

so every time i come in & wake everything up, i have to click to open the Control Center then adjust the LG's brightness down then back up. a minor pain but one i'm hoping to find a fix for (if possible), or is it just a bug in the new system?

I had the same problem after upgrading to Monterey. Updated the LG 5k firmware and was all sorted.

Thanks. I see though that it hasn't been added to the 27MD5KA-B, which is my model. I'll try the KL-B software to see if it still works.

i did go ahead & install the app from the mac app store - but it just says that my firmware is up to date. ergh

I'm running macOS 12.4 (released today, May 16th) and my UltraFine 4K appears to be at the proper brightness when waking from sleep.

Same issue here with the Macbook Pro M1 Max. Additionally, I lose brightness sliders as well on one! Noteably, I have two of the displays and the one running through the TB4 dock never loses the slider, just the one direct connected to the mac. However, both will often awaken dimmed as you describe. Once it happens the only fix is a restart of the machine -- even a disconnect/reconnect of the display does not bring the brightness controls back!

Hi there. I have the exact same issue with my 16" M1 MacBook Pro and LG Ultrafine 5K. No issue with previous MBP. Was hoping it would be fixed in MacOS 12.1, but not so.
