If you have received a shipping kit to return your iPad for trade-in, you should find a tiny leaflet with instructions for packing the iPad. When returning your trafe-in, only include the device - and nothing else in the box. Ensure that you fix the supplied shipping label on the outside of the sealed shipping container - positioned such that the label does not obscure any battery warnings that are printed on the box.
If you are trading multiple devices, you will receive a separate shipping kit for each. Ensure that you use the correct box and shipping label for the item that you intend to return; don’t mix them up as your device won’t match the label - and will be rejected. Shipping boxes are likely to arrive on different days.
