Restoring messages
How can I restore delete messages if I have already had a back up since the messages were deleted? I need the prior restore.

Do you store your messages in iCloud?
(Settings > [your name] > iCloud, is the switch turned on for Messages?)
If you do, then your Messages are not included in your iPhone backup.
If you don't sync your messages in iCloud, when you restore your iPhone, if it only shows you the one backup to restore from, then that's it.. If there was another backup to choose from I believe it would be displayed
