iPad iCloud account transfer

If I change from one Apple ID to another on my iPad will I loose all my purchases and progress on my games. Will I loose my in app purchases?!?

I am currently using a gmail account with my iOS devices and want to switch to an iCloud account, will all my purchases I made using my old Apple ID still remain on my devices due to changing over to an iCloud account. Ive bought many apps! Will my existing purchases made in the iOS shop remain on my devices if I switch my Apple ID from a gmail to iCloud address I want to sync my devices easily and still would like to keep my gmail account from before, so that I can still receive updates and keep my my YouTube channel and other services I have already set up using the gmail account!

Yes, as Apple Accounts cannot be merged, as of the date of this reply.
