Your friend has to give the phone back to the company. Only the company can unlock the iPhone.

Are you referring to the passcode that you use to unlock the iPhone and get to the Home Screen? OR are you referring to removing the Activation Lock? Lastly, why can't you get the passcode from the person who gave you the iPhone?

Return it to your friend and have them ask the person who had the phone to remove their information. This phone is useless to you.
