I don’t mean to sound stupid but, where can I go to open the clipboard on an iPhone or iPad? Things get pasted to
the clipboard and it’s like they disappeared.

There is no visual display of the content of the clipboard on either iOS or iPadOS.
You have to paste it somewhere else to see it.

There is No Built-In Clipboard:
But, you can get one in the Apple Store.
Clipboard++:
I've used Clipboard++ . It is found directly in the App Store. Search for clipboard in the App Store, and see if it pop right up. It's easy to use, basic and upfront, and a great reviews.

I know how to copy paste and cut and paste. What I’m talking about is sometimes it says copied to clipboard Or pasted to clipboard. I just copied what I typed just now. And I can go paste it in Notes or whatever but it did not say that it was sent to the clipboard so I’m not quite getting it.
