moving selected music from MacBook to iPad 4th gen 12.9" ?

I am about to buy a refurbed iPad 4th gen 12.9" , mostly for art making, images and animation. I also will use it for teaching device for my stained glass class.

I would like to be able to take it to places with no wifi and play music. Can I transfer selected albums and songs ( imported from my cds) and now located on an older MacBook Pro to the hard drive music library of the iPad?

I am old and semi-retired but fit and still work at places with no wifi. I am also low income, and try hard to minimize monthly payments.
