How can I use the hashtag symbol in iPhone notes without creating a tag?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you would like to use the hashtag symbol within your Notes app without creating a tag.

It looks like you currently reviewed Use Tags and Smart Folders in Notes on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch which has the best information available for using hashtags. Since you prefer not to use them, try placing a space between the hashtag and any word or phrase so as to prevent creating a tag.

I want to be able to disable this function as well. I use Notes to keep lists of hashtags for use elsewhere, so they have to keep the #subject format. Having Notes auto create tags every time I add a hashtag to my list and then delete the hashtags is not practical, so I’ll be looking for alternatives to the app.
