iPhone 12 'backup is corrupt, delete backup and try again'
Try to backup ipad air 2 OR iphone 12 Pro Max to MB Pro 14 fails. I've never done backup to this new MBP14. After starting backup in Itunes, I get message 'backup is corrupt, delete backup and try again'
Attempt encrypted backup via itunes
ipad air 2 (15.1)
iphone 12 (15.1.1)
To
MB Pro 14 (12.0.1)
All IOS /MacOS is up to date.
Both fail with message "Could not backup the ipad (or iphone) because the backup was corrupt"
"Delete the backup for this device then try again."
Looking at public support pages, I tried the following
Tried restart of all devices.
Tried different cables and different ports.
Tried reset of network setttings (on iphone) to delete/clear the backup encryption passwd on the iphone.
Tried to backup iphone without encryption, and before it starts I get prompted for device pin on the iphone and enter it, then MBP 14 itunes says "the password you entered to unlock your iphone backup was incorrect, please try again" yet I had done a 'change password' for the encrypted backup.
So since 2 device backups fail with encryption on, and since turning off encryption for both device backup can't be activated, backups of devices to MacOS Monterrey must be a generic problem with IOS/MacOS. And trying to do backups to icloud on slow uplinks (9 mbit) is not practical.....
Backup is basic functionality that should work and should regularly be regression tested...
