Airtag shared on common things

Hello, I am a new airtag user and I have a few things I would like to put airtag to. The thing is that these things will be shared within my family and none of these users is an ios/apple user. For example when I let my sister to use my car keys for about a day or two, I am worried that the airtag will start beeping out loud. Is there a way how to make it work without making any noise when being distant from my own device for some time? Thank you for any suggestions and advice.
