Take Away Sidebar on PDFs in Files App

Why can I not hide the sidebar when viewing PDFs? This is new since the update and it’s a horrible change. It’s not clean and distracting on the left side.

Apple, change this please!

Can anyone tell me how to hide the sidebar with the page thumbnails on PDFs in the Files App?

How to remove the sidebar in iOS Preview? I like to read PDFs on iPad (manuals, articles etc.). For some reason, unlike on macOS Preview, the thumbnail side is shown permanently. This seems to me a SERIOUS design flaw: it deprives the user of control over the presentation, wastes precious screen space, and, most importantly, RANDOMLY – which I think is the worst quality of a design – reduces focus without ANY gain (the thumbnails could show up by tipping the screen, just as all other additional controls are and/or show up when scrolling). Did I do something wrong or is there really no way to hide it?

Can't select "Show Sidebar" in PDF document. Since I selected “Hide Sidebar” in a PDF file, it lost its PDF format. Since then, non of my PDF Files and Documents show their PDF format anymore. How can I get “Show Sidebar” back in these documents. There is no option for it in the View Menu.
