Garageband not picking up audio

Garageband isn't picking up any audio. Its not picking up audio from internal microphone, airpods, or usb guitar. In system preferences > sound > input, the audio is being picked up, but renders nothing in garageband (even with appropriate input/output settings). Running OS 12.0.1, and garageband 10.4.5.

UR242 did not reconize in garageband Hello. I am a newbie. I bought a Steinberg UR242 I have a problems connecting the UR242 to my Macbook Pro 2018. When I do connect things start off ok. "Steinberg UR424" appears in the Input list in System Preferneces Preferences > Sound, and also in Audio Midi Setup. BUT, as soon as a open Garage Band, the Steinberg UR242 DISAPPEARS from the Sound input list (and Audio Midi Setup)! At this point I cannot select the UR242 as an input because the system doesn't see it any more. I don't understand why this happens. In summary, the system "sees" the UR242 after I plug it in. But as soon as I open Garage Band (or the Cubase software), it no longer is visible from Mac as an input, and visually disappears from the Input list in System Preferneces Preferences > Sound. Does anyone know what's going on?

Help please...! GarageBand Won't Load Help would be great, please...! Trying to access GarageBand and I get the following message:- [ GarageBand unexpectedly quit while trying to use the Audio Unit “AUMatrixReverb” by “Apple”. This plug-in may require an update. ] After this, GarageBand will not load and freezes. I cannot seem to find a "plug-in" for this to receive an update - does anyone else have this problem? I'm currently running macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.6 after update today. Thanks for your help :-)

Output sound through multiple ports. I use a Mac Mini at home and output the audio through both the headphone jack of the mini and to my Airport Express, which I like a lot. However, no other application with sound output (Podcasts, Spotify, web browsers, the Pro audio/video apps (although with these, it doesn't matter--I only want to output through one path) seems to offer a way to out the sound through more than one path, either through the app itself or through the system settings. I think there must be a pretty simple way to do this, but I cannot figure it out. Could anyone point me to a fix? Thanks so much.

Hi Keith,

I didn't find anything within Garageband regarding privacy settings, and it's theres no "Garageband" option in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Microphone.
