My MacBook Air M1 frequently freezes while waking up from sleep mode. If you are continuously using the system there is no issue at all. But if it went to sleep mode or you left the system unattended for a while it got stuck. Neither Key board, mousepad. Only you have you press and hold the power key to turnoff and turn on again.
Please help with right solution.

After some further testing, I think my issue was being caused by the Apple Watch unlock setting. For some reason this is hanging up the laptop the majority of the time. After disabling it I haven’t had a freeze up, but time will tell. I haven’t ruled out a hardware issue but will see if it happens again in the future.
I am having this same exact issue with my M1 MacBook Air, very frustrating. I have been unsuccessful finding a solution through search. Trying to avoid having to bring it to Apple store.
Do you have "require password" from sleep set in your security settings?
Thanks, that seems to have fixed it, at least for now. I will just hit the touch ID button before closing to lock it.
Yes, I have a password to login to system.
