Unable to complete touch ID enrolment

I changed my password then wanted to add a new touch ID to my new iMac running Monterey but entered the PW wrong several times. Then I got this error message which repeats and I can not enter the touch ID which is perfectly clean, etc. I even reset my PW but still no go.


Maybe I need to reboot?
