Cannot set up this AirTag your Apple ID cannot add another AirTag until one or more have been removed. But I don’t have any attached yet. I think they were assigned when I ordered but not listed in my find my app. How do I unassign the AirTag and add to find my app?

I've read that the Find My app counts how many devices you're tracking and won't allow AirTags to be added if there's too many. The solution being to remove some devices, add the AirTags, then add the devices back.
Haven't hit that limit, so don't know if it's true.
Really weird that it still says the same thing. Funny thing is one of the other ones I purchased linked immediately to my wife’s account. So they work just won’t link to me.
