corrupt firmware iPhone 4s

Trying to restore an old iPhone 4s via iTunes. After downloading the software, during install, it said the action could not be completed because of corrupt firmware on the device. Any suggestions about what we can do?

Means it requires repair, which apple will either do for a high amount of money or not at all. You probably need a new iPhone.
