Fifth Generation iPod Classic tells me how to force a restart which doesn't work. I have a Fifth Generation iPod Classic and the suggestion to hold center button and menu does not work. See the following other options from If you forgot your iPod touch passcode - Apple Support

If you don't have a computer and you can't borrow one, you need to go to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for help.
