Gen 2 case wireless vs. non-wireless

I have the generation 2 airpods right now with the wireless charging case and am getting another pair, same generation but the case isn’t wireless charging. Could I use the airpods from that case and use them in my old one to charge them that way? Would the airpods charge like that or does it have to be in the case that requires non-wireless charging?

Hi emerie17,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities! From our understanding, you are wondering if you can charge your AirPods in a wireless charging case even if they come with a wired charging case, do we have that right? You should be able to charge them with no problem. You can either choose to charge them wirelessly or with the charging cable. Check out more info about charging your AirPods here: Charge your AirPods and learn about battery life.

Have a good one!
