Cannot enable Carplay on new 2022 Lexus RX 350

Just bought a new 2022 Lexus RX 350 that has Android Auto and Apple Carplay. The Android auto enabled without a problem. But despite all our efforts, I cannot get Apple Carplay working with our iPhone 11 (with IOS 14.8.) Made sure the Carplay function on the car was enabled to "ON", and have tried to ensure the iPhone 11 is set up properly (Siri enabled, Screen time for Carplay enabled, genuine MFI cable used, etc.

No joy, the car never reacts to the phone when jacked in via the lightning cable.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, neither atttaching via wireless (holding down the voice command button), or via usb cable makes any difference. (According to the Lexus manual, all USB ports are enabled for Carplay or Android Auto.)
