iOS 15.1.1 broke Backups

I wanted to move my data from my iPhone 12 Pro Max to a iPhone XS. I needed to use the backup functionality as I needed all my business profiles and business apps to keep installed.

I tried transferring the files with quick configuration. Every time I tried, it failed without any error message. I reset my iPhone 6 times and tried troubleshooting without any notes why it kept failing. Then I did a iCloud Backup just to receive the warning that I need to install iOS 15.1.1 on the iPhone XS to install the Backup. So I set it up as a new iPhone with no data and was searching for a firmware update without finding one.

Does anyone has a solution? Honestly waiting till might release iOS 15.2 is not a solution. I can't believe that they don't show any error messages within Quick Configuration nor do they have mentioned any of the compatibility issues in Apple Support documents.

Unfortunately this happens now and then when Apple releases a new version of iOS just for certain devices.

Is it Quick Start that is failing?

Use Quick Start to transfer data to a new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If so, yes, you will likely have to wait for iOS 15.2 to be released and install it on both devices before you can proceed.

You can also try contacting Apple Support directly to see whether they have any ideas:
