Logic Pro hi-hat does not close

Hello, longtime Logic Pro user, just loaded 10.7.1 on a new iMac 27" running macOS 11.5.1.

I loaded up a drum kit designer, and no matter what I do, the hi hat does not play closed. I have used the GM standard and GM+Mod wheel setup, and it never plays a closed hi hat. I'm just using the virtual keyboard for MIDI input, and editing the mod wheel manually.

It does play the closed hi hat when I click on the hi-hat in the Drum Kit designer window, but that's it. All drum kits are effected, so I think it is not the samples.

Anyone else run into this?
