My iPod doesn’t play music anymore
That might be because the iPod cannot detect connected headphones, and is therefore waiting on you to plug some in. See also Corrupt iPod Classic - Apple Community. What are your HDD stats? They might indicate if there are issues with the hard drive.

Does the scrubbing bar move showing the elapsed time is changing, or does it not get that far? Assuming the time changes then the most likely explanations are faulty headphones, or a faulty headphone jack.
