Tried the new OS 12.0 and it caused me nothing but headaches from Bluetooth being set off after restart and the Thunderbolt 3 external drives magically not being acknowledge there. Wondering where I can get Big Sur since that OS did not give me these wonderful problems.

You will need to create a bootable USB installer, and wipe your Mac to install Big Sur. It cannot be installed on top of Monterey directly.

To get Big Sur try first entering this command in Terminal to find what macOS versions are available:
softwareupdate --list-full-installers

Then enter the command softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version xx.x.x
where xx.x.x is the version number in the list you wanted
Try updating to 12.1 which was released today.
Surprise surprise 12.1 actually resolved my initial glitches! External drives are showing up and bluetooth is fully engaged after restarts. Thanks for the advice, it helped keep my sane through this ordeal.
Maybe later, not too keen on being burned twice v by Apple. I do not want to go through troubleshooting only to come to the realization the problem was indeed Apple's fault. Not having access to my information for close to a month is unacceptable. The only good thing was that it was downtime for me.
How about Mojave 10.14.6? I already did a factory re-install to that today. I am hoping to only upgrade to Big Sur since that version did not lose my external drives and keep turning the Bluetooth off after restarting the computer every time? Big Sur (provided I can get it) won't necessarily need to wipe out Mojave, should be just a normal upgrade as before?
Link is not working, but of course it isn't working now. I've been trying to update to Big Sur for the better part of the night. Only able to get Mojave 10.14.6. Catalina fails won't install craps out. Guess I'll have to wait for the next big update for 12.2 or so. Thanks.
Thanks did not work for me at all. Terminal responds with "softwareupdate: unrecognized option `--fetch-full-installer'
softwareupdate: unrecognized option `--full-installer-version'". Guess I'm going to have bite the bullet and see if the 12.1 will work for me. Fingers crossed.
Actually, I already re-installed to factory macOS Mojave. I was annoyed not having access to my external drives except in Safe Mode.
