Apple Watch not counting swim laps properly.

I have the Apple Watch series 7 and am having difficulty with it accurately counting my swim laps. I had the Apple Watch series 4 prior to this and did not have as big of an issue (except laps were there was no arm movement ie. kicking only). Any suggestions?
