HBO Max is downloadable from the Apple TV App Store on the Apple TV box (4th generation or later). Apple TV box (3rd generation or earlier) do not, and can not, have an App Store.

If you have the Apple TV app on your smart TV, then Apple can’t assist you with HBO Max. That would be up to the OS that Sharp uses (Android TV (Play Store) or Roku TV (Channel Store)) and its version.
