Location Sharing for emergencies only (with notification)

I am missing a feature in iPhone / iCloud location sharing that I feel many others may benefit from too: It's an ability to share your location with trusted contacts, but not on an ongoing basis:

  • The contact you've shared with to be allowed to request and request your location (at any time)
  • But you to be notified of each such request --- and the person making a request would know I would be notified (before confirming a request).

There are people in my life whom I trust well to request my location in situations they would deem as a potential emergency or at least serious urgency (like I am missing and can't be found for some time)

- but I don't feel quite like sharing a continuous location on an ongoing basis allowing silent stalking. For example, to parents - and perhaps some friends.

I know Apple does not have an official feature suggestion/ideas portal; Yet, what is the best way to petition Apple for such a feature - especially if we can have enough of a community support for such a feature?
