How do you transpose row and columns in Numbers?

Unless you have locked the table (via the menu Arrange > Lock or the keyboard shortcut command-L) you should be able to click in any of its cells and choose Table > Transpose Rows and Columns from the menu.

Unrelated to your transpose problem, but good Numbers usage: define the row where you have sums for the columns as a Footer Row. Then you can just use SUM(B), SUM(C), etc. rather than cell ranges and you can add rows to the table without having to adjust the formulas.

thank you for that solution. I would never have thought of that. It doesn't make sense to me what difference it makes whether you're saving on your computer or icloud?? I have almost all my files automatically saved to icloud. The workaround was I copied the table from the cloud to my local computer, transposed it, and then copied and pasted back to the cloud.

Same general idea. I've read about people having unexpected behavior in shared documents or documents in which they collaborating with other people. The solution was to turn off sharing or collaboration temporarily, make the change, and then turn it back on. That may apply in this case too.

Could you post a screenshot of your table? shift-command-4, use cross-hairs to select area on screen, release, then start a new post here and insert the screenshot image from the Desktop using the "mountains and moon" icon at the bottom of the compose window.

If you don't have any personal or confidential data in the document and you store it in iCloud Drive then you can "share" it and paste the link in a post here. In the menu: Share > Collaborate with others ... Copy Link and choose 'Anyone with the link' under 'Who can access:' Or if you have a Dropbox account you can Copy Dropbox Link and paste that in a post.

May have something to do with whether the document is "shared" when it is stored in iCloud.

SG, How do you tell if a document is "shared"? Is that the same thing as collaboration?
