10Gb port on 2018 Mac mini disappeared

I have a 2018 Mac mini, with the 10Gb ethernet option. The port just one day disappeared. I coudn't add it back as interface and the "About this Mac" and "Hardware Report" didn't list the port any more. I was running Mojave, so I thought it might have been a software issue, so I performed a fresh install of Catalina, then Big Sur, then Monterey. The port never came back in any of those OS versions. I also reset the Nvram/Pram and SMC.

Did anybody else have similar issue and find a way to resolve it?

Thanks

Doug

Same thing happened to me on my 2018 Mac mini. There are a few discussions on other message board sites about this problem. I have heard the repair costs $448 plus tax from Apple. Seems pretty steep for what is pretty clearly a manufacturing defect (given the number of people posting the problem). I went with the $10 usb-c to gigabit dongle option. Not nearly as fast, but better than wifi... and $438 cheaper than Apple.
