My iPhone has been hacked
I received a weird imessage that another person said they did not send. Has my phone been hacked? What do I do? I have an iPhone 12 Pro

Thanks for your reply but this was not a separate message; it was a text that appeared to be coming from a friend within a text chain that we were already on, so it was real message from friend and then a fake message that neither of us sent. Does that make sense? It wasn’t a separate number. It looked like my friend had sent it and she said she thought I had sent it but neither of us had. Just want to make sure as that has never happened to me before. Thanks!
A text message can be sent from any number, and scammers can fake a number to make it look like it came from one of your contacts when it really didn’t. Or someone might have picked up your friends phone and sent a message without her knowing it. Regardless, your phone has not been hacked, don’t worry about it.
You haven’t been hacked. More likely you received a message from someone that faked the phone number - phone numbers and email addresses are easy to fake. Delete the message and ignore it, it’s nothing more than spam.
Ok. Thank you!!
