pdf preview on ipad os 15

An annoying options button has now been included on the left side of pdf previews, reducing the screen space for viewing the pdf.

Is there any way to remove or turn this off?

Using an iPad 9.7 and ios 15.2.

How to remove the sidebar in iOS Preview? I like to read PDFs on iPad (manuals, articles etc.). For some reason, unlike on macOS Preview, the thumbnail side is shown permanently. This seems to me a SERIOUS design flaw: it deprives the user of control over the presentation, wastes precious screen space, and, most importantly, RANDOMLY – which I think is the worst quality of a design – reduces focus without ANY gain (the thumbnails could show up by tipping the screen, just as all other additional controls are and/or show up when scrolling). Did I do something wrong or is there really no way to hide it?

Sidebar not hiding for pdf on files app iPadOS15.1 The sidebar is not hiding. Earlier when I tapped on the screen, everything would go and it would become a proper full screen pdf display, but now it’s annoying like this and takes up space in the screen making it hard to read and so have to zoom and stuff. This happened after updating to iPadOS 15 I believe. Earlier it was all fine
