Anyone know how to position a title at a specific point in the video?

I'm trying to place labels on people in a video but iMovie doesn't seem to let me add text or move a title to exactly where I want it

iMovie has little or no capability of adjusting the position of a title or text on the screen.

I use the Mac's Preview app to create a transparency background and then insert a text box to type in the title. Save and import into iMovie, and insert into the desired clip in the timeline using the Picture in Picture feature. You can then adjust the size and position of the text. The titles will display sequentially, not all at one time. To make them appear at one time you would need to share out the overlaid clip, import it back in, and add an overlaid Picture in Picture to it.

It's easy to create a transparency background. Take a duplicate of any random photo, open it in Preview, and do an Edit/Select All, Edit/Delete. You are left with a transparency screen. Then go to Tools/Annotate/Text in Preview to insert the text box. and type into it.

Sounds a little complicated, but actually easy to do after you do your first one.
