I can't seem to zoom into a particular point on a photo. If I left mouse click it just seems to drag the whole photo (thumbnail) around rather than zooming into the area I want to view in more detail. There are no scroll bars to the side or bottom.

It is doing the same on macOS 12 Monterey, Tony. ⌘+ is zooming in on the spot where the pointer is, ⌘- is zooming out.
When using the zoom slider in the Toolbar, Photos is zooming in on the center go the photo.

I'm on Big Sur - but if I position the mouse, and then use CMD+ to zoom in, it will zoom in where the mouse pointer is. The pointer will also change to a hand, allowing you to drag the image around.

Thanks Tony. I think I could do that also but I'm now on Monterey and have encountered the problem.
