Recurrent "verification failed" message while resetting 4th generation IPad.

Hi all!

I started yesterday the process of erasing and resetting my 4th generation Ipad. I've tried this via wifi, and also using itunes. I´ve tried to reset it both as a NEW IPAD, and also FROM THE BACKUP.

In all cases, and after 10+ attempts, I continue getting a "verification failed" message every time, and then I´m taken back to the previous step of inputting my account name and password. Every time I do this, I inmediately get the code in my new IPhone and approve it, which tells me the IPad is correctly connected to my home WIFI, as it´s been for the last 3 years with no issues.

For more details, the Ipad was bought in 2013, hasn´t update IOS for over 2 years now (no new updates), and the model is A1459 (wifi+cellular). I´ve never used a phone chip on it, only our in-house wifi.

Can someone please help me pass the "verification failed" status to reset the IPad?

Thanks a million!!!

Greetings 86-17530,

We understand that you’re receiving a verification failed message when trying to sign in with an account name and password on your iPad. Additionally, you’re receiving a notification that your iPad is connected to your Wi-Fi network.

Is this your Apple ID and password that you’re encountering an issue with? Are you being prompted to enter the verification code on your iPad? If not, can you add that verification code to the end of your password? For example, if your password is ‘abcd’ and the verification code is ‘1234’ you’d enter ‘abcd1234’ as the password.

Again, if this is your Apple ID password and we’re in the set up screens, are you able to skip that step for the moment and finish setting up your device? If so, we can then work at signing in after your device is set up.

Thanks.

Hi AnnieL2!

Thanks for your message.

My 4th gen IPad was working well. I chose to erase it and reset it so that I can give it to a family member. In settings, general, etc... I pressed the button Erase and Reset, and after minutes I was welcomed by a Hello in the screen.

Then, these are the only 7 things that happen:

1- I select a location on the IPad (ok)

2- I select a wifi network on the IPad (ok)

3- I enter my email and password on the IPad (ok)

4- I receive a 6 digit code in my iphone (ok)

5- Then, I enter the 6-digit code in the IPad (ok)

6- Then, the following message appears in the IPad screen "it may take a few minutes to set up your Apple ID"

7- After several minutes, I receive a message that says "Verification Failed".

And then, after pressing ok, I`m taken back to steps 3-4-5-6 and obtain again the "Verification Failed" message... rinse and repeat... rinse and repeat...

I´m trapped in this loop, with no more choices for me to do anything else.

The Apple ID i´m using is my only ID, which keeps working well in all my other devices (Ipad 9thgen, Iphones, PC, etc.).

I tried adding the most recent 6-digit verification code obtained at the end of my password, but the IPad inmediately tells me the password is incorrect.

Again, this is all that happens... hope I was able to explain exactly my situation so that you can help me resetting my old IPad.

Thanks!

Tito
