Documents are not displayed in Finder
When I open /Users/olav in Finder the Documents directory does not show up. I know the directory is there because when I run ls -l in the same folder it is listed.

I think that somehow it became hidden.
You can confirm that: press Command-Shift-period
This will make the Finder show hidden files and folders - they appear grey.
Do you see Documents showing grey now?
If you do, here is how you make the folder visible again.
Open Terminal and type
chflags nohidden ~/Documents

Open Terminal and type
chflags nohidden ~/Documents
In Finder start with your startup drive>Users>your user. You should see your Documents folder on right side. Then drag it to the left side
As the image shows, Documents does not show up in Finder.
My problem is not that it doesn't show up in the sidebar.
I tried that and confirmed that the hidden flag is disabled, but it is still not showing.
Yes
None.
Restarting my computer did not bring it back either.
Try deleting Finder preferences:
press command-shift-G and type
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
drag the file to the trash
relaunch the Finder: press Command-Option-escape, select Finder in the list and click Relaunch.
Any changes?
When I press CMD-Shift-period in /Users/olav to show hidden files, Documents is displayed as if it is not hidden, ie it is not grayed out. However when I press CMD-shift-period again to hide the hidden files, it does not show up. As I confirmed in a previous post by running "ls -lO" it does not have the hidden flag enabled.
Save for me. Documents folder do does not show in my user folder.
What if you go to Finder Preferences>Sidebar and check Documents. It is checked for me and Documents appears in my SIdebar.
My problem is that it does not show up when I visit /Users/olav in Finder.
What happens if you press Command-Shift-O in the Finder, or choose Go->Documents?
Does it open the Documents folder?
