How do I update my iPhone 6 to the newest iOS (14 or 15)?

I would like to update to the new iOS. The latest that shows up on the update screen is 12.5. How do I get newest iOS?

An iPhone 6 cannot update past iOS 12.5.5. You need a new phone.
